Sowing the Sandalwood Seed

In May 2019, Bush Heritage Australia invited the Badimia Bandi Barna Aboriginal Corporation onto Charles Darwin Reserve (previously White Wells Station) to consult with the Board as Badimia People on planned activities on the Reserve.

Of particular importance was discussion around the opportunity to revegetate the country with Sandalwood trees, and work towards reviving a native tree, which is rarely found these days.

Protecting Our Aboriginal Heritage Sites

In 2018, the Badimia Bandi Barna Aboriginal Corporation successfully applied for grant funding through the Preserving our Aboriginal Sites grant program offered  by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage.

This funding has allowed fencing and signage of important sites, to ensure restricted access and demonstrate that Badimia People are monitoring these areas.

The Badimia Rangers will be supporting work such as this.
